Gold Rush Trailers. The use of Production Modeling in the development of high end, lightweight trailers for racecars. This design was intricate due to variations in size and shape of corners resulting from the sand casting process. Our design included 304-alloy stainless steel pre-plotted at full scale and allowed revisions until assembly standards matching the Gold Rush high-quality product line were met.

Hill Manufacturing. The use of Auto CAD and Algor Finite Element Analysis to reduce the weight of the frame and thus increase payload on semi trailers and dump bodies. We were able to apply load factors and simulate the trailer motion and stress factors. This analysis revealed problem areas at the suspension mounts and cutout locations, which were modified to achieve the light weight/stress goal.

LTI. Redesign of rear suspension of an industry-leading ladder truck to accommodate an 8,000 lbs. GVW increase. This project required coordination with LTI and both the wheel and tire manufacturers. It was complicated by a rear steering system and the need to provide additional boost for power steering and drag link redesign.

The ground-up design of a tiller cab for the Los Angles Fire Department had design objectives including improved sight lines, improved safety and reduced finishing time and cost. Accomplishing this required computer modeling of the 97.5 percentile male, location of steering in relation to the axis for multiple chassis, sourcing of special glass and overcoming gutter, hinge, mirror and handle issues.

Baker Refractory. Steel pallet design. The design of our super-lightweight steel pallet solved a number of problems. With a weight of only 37 lbs. it was able to handle loads of 16 tons. In addition, due to its mild steel structure, it offers the best possible recycling solution — no paint, no glue and no foam.

JSM. Bottom bin metered feeder. The design of the metered feeder solved problems in live bottom bins for mass flow and uniform discharge rate. This design was versatile enough to offer solution in a number of industries and has allowed the recycling of sludge products.

Mobile Oil. Marine mooring walkway. The construction of the marine mooring walkway for petroleum tankers was unique and set new standards in flexibility and efficiency.

Department of Transportation. PA, NJ, DE and OH. Designs for sound walls, drainage systems, intersections and highway barriers. Our work has included Shop Drawings, Submittal Drawings, Sample Layouts and Production Layouts.

Sheerlund Products. Forestry equipment. Design of an individual backpack trimmer to reduce weight and increase efficiency. Using this as a starting point, we designed a frame, that would utilize a modern commercial-style harness that places the weight on the hips of the user rather than the shoulder. Motor attachments were developed to allow for the different physical size requirements of the users. We also redesigned the overhead support for the new unit.

Safety Hoist. Ladder hoist trolley. Design of a universal ladder hoist for a variety of job-site applications.

F. L. Schmidt. Welding fixture for concrete production. Ground-up design and prototype of a fixture for the worldwide manufacture of concrete clinker cooler production equipment.
